Ok, I’m Ready for Fall

It seems like everyone but me gets excited for the change in seasons, temperature, lifestyle. I would be happy in perpetual summer. But for now, “365 days of sun” stays in my goals, while I prep for temperature drops and the impending darker days.

I thought I’d share some items below that I swear by to help cope (dramatic, I know) with the big seasonal transition. To help you find each specific item, I’ve shared the links below. In true transparency, clicking on some of the links will send a % of the sale my way. I’ve never done this before, so I have no idea how much. Thanks for your support though!!

Katie Ruddell Fall

1. Saje Diffuser Blend “Into the Trees”

Smells like a walk in the woods and my favourite cozy morning scent. Pairs well with coffee, football and your favourite sweatsuit.

2. Dr. Martens Vegan Leather Jadon II Mono Boots

Obsessed with this Fall look and obviously feel much better about them being vegan. Yes please.

3. Kaffe Jacket - check local stockist info!

I layer this jacket with anything—jeans, dresses or my align pants. It’s available at a bunch of local retailers.

4. Jessica Simpson’s Auto Biography + Conversations with Friends

Jessica’s biography felt like a trip down memory lane to 1999. Loved listening to her book via audio book—it was her voice narrating it and it felt like an intimate conversation with Jess herself.

Conversations with Friends is one of those books that’ll have you looking forward to curling up alone each day. Couldn’t put it down.

5. Egyptian Magic Cream

My skin instantly gets dry when the temperature drops. My facialist recommended this to me to help shield my skin against the the most cold, windy, elemental days. It’s one of those miracle creams that can be used in a million different ways.

6. French Press

Chris and I have put away the espresso machine in favour of this french press. With more time at home, it feels so much more like a ritual and is something we enjoy making together. I love this specific one because it is double wall insulated, retaining heat 4x longer than glass.

7. Sequence Board Game

A very new obsession, but I don’t leave the house without this game. Super easy to use and great for as little as 2 people or as many as 12. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!! I beg Chris to play it every morning over coffee.

8. Dr Loretta Intense Replenishing Serum

I love my skin care program, so if I’m adding a new product to the list, you know I mean it. This serum feels super luxurious on my skin and is exactly what I need after a season of sun, heading into a drier climate. I usually alternate this each day with hyaluronic acid.

9. Red Light

We’ve all heard blue light isn’t good for sleep. Well, did you know red light is ideal for evenings because it has a low colour temperature, far lower than regular sunlight? You can be immersed in red light at night without giving your body a jolt and altering your internal clock like blue light does. So, we switched a few of our side lights in the house to red bulbs and each night after dinner we only use the red lights! Sleep is a major issue for me, so this helps my internal clock start to slow down in preparation for bedtime.

10. Tonic Whisk

I treat my morning hot drinks like a smoothie, packing in all the extras. This whisk makes it super easy to add mushroom powders, MCT oil, cinnamon, etc. without having to pull out the blender. And it’s so much cuter than the others on the market. OBSESSED.

11. Pizza Stone

We’ve had this one for 5+ years and couldn’t imagine the cooler months without it. We keep it in our oven always (no need to take it out) and probably use it twice per month to make perfect pizzas at home. Add a glass of wine and you have a very nice Friday evening in! Hot tip: I use store-bought tortillas in place of pizza dough because I like how cracker-thin the crust is. Try it!!
